Cabot Quilting Conferences was founded in 1994 by Christine Porter; The name Cabot was inspired by John Cabot, an explorer who set sail from Bristol in 1497 on a voyage of discovery and landed in Newfoundland, Canada. (www.matthew.co.uk) The Victorian Cabot Tower is a landmark close to where Christine Porter lives in Bristol.
